Spring Longbow Competition – Results - 3 May 2008
I hope everyone had an enjoyable days shooting. The weather certainly makes a huge difference and it was a perfect Spring day.
From an organisation point of view the day went well and I felt the shoot went at a good pace. Having 8 on a target does crowd the line at 60yds and I think we should have spread ourselves down a bit more, especially as one target was not used. In the end we had 88 archers so this was quite possible. However, the crowding did make for an exceptionally friendly shoot.
I must own up to a couple of errors with the results on the day. For some reason two very good lady archers appeared on the gentleman’s results. This has changed a couple of placings. My apologies must go to Rae Harder (Surrey Bowmen) and Hilary Talbot (Canterbury). Rae is third place with 6 golds and Hilary 2nd place with a score of 382. I’m really sorry for the errors but as I get to know you over the next events I hope these won’t happen again.
My thanks go to our judge Netta Bridle and our Lady Paramount, Jane Readings, (Guildford) for doing their roles perfectly. Thanks to Woking Archery Club, especially Brenda and Peter Champion, for using their field and supporting us so well and to Colin Madelin for helping to set the field up. Thanks also to Judy Friedlander (Reigate) for pouring the Sherry!
Also I could not do this event without the support of Malden Bowmen – thanks.
I hope to see you in the Autumn and I will be sending out the entry form shortly.
